Rest Is Part of the Journey

Sis,

When was the last time you truly rested?

Not just sleeping for a few extra hours.

Not scrolling on your phone.

Not catching up on errands.

I mean the kind of rest that refreshes your soul.

Many of us wear busyness like a badge of honor. We fill every moment with responsibilities, deadlines, and commitments, believing that slowing down somehow means we’re falling behind.

But God never called us to live exhausted.

Even in the beginning, after creating the heavens and the earth, God modeled the importance of rest. Not because He was tired, but because rest is holy. It reminds us that our value is not found in what we produce—it is found in who we are.

Sometimes we believe that if we stop, everything will fall apart.

The truth is, God is still God even when we rest.

He continues to work in ways we cannot see.

This week, give yourself permission to pause.

Rest from striving.

Rest from comparison.

Rest from trying to carry burdens that belong to God.

Spend time in His presence.

Read His Word.

Take a quiet walk.

Sit in gratitude.

Pray without rushing.

When you create space for God, He has room to restore your heart, renew your mind, and remind you of His promises.

Rest is not a sign of weakness.

It is an act of trust.

It says, “God, I believe You are in control, even when I stop.”

As you move through this week, don’t just ask yourself, “What do I need to accomplish?”

Also ask,

“What does my soul need?”

Because a rested woman can hear God’s voice more clearly, love more deeply, and lead more effectively.

Scripture of the Week

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Reflection Questions

  1. What has been draining me physically, emotionally, or spiritually?

  2. How can I intentionally create space to rest in God’s presence this week?

  3. What burden do I need to surrender to Him today?

Weekly Affirmation

I choose peace over pressure.

I release the need to do everything in my own strength.

God is my source of renewal, and I trust Him to sustain me.

As I rest in His presence, He refreshes my heart, renews my mind, and strengthens me for the journey ahead.

Sis, you don’t have to earn your rest.

God isn’t asking you to prove your worth.

He’s simply inviting you to come close, breathe deeply, and trust Him with what you’re carrying.

Rest isn’t stepping away from your purpose—it’s preparing you to walk in it.
